I heartily recommend this restaurant to you. The quality of service they provided was amazing! Their foods and drinks were excellent. They deserve great ratings! I can't wait to visit this place again with my family and relatives. Thank you very much for your outstanding assistance and food. The best of the best in town.

Great location. Liked their menu it was good. The food was presentable and was tasty. Their staffs were friendly too.

We've just finished our 6th dinner here. Almost every course was accompanied by a "Happy Anniversary!" Or "Happy Half Anniversary!" The staff is simply amazing 😍 whether it's a familiar face or new. The two Michelin stars are not for nothing, but please note that my partner and I have been going there long before they had any. Also, please note that we're both vegetarian. I'm also the pickier eater out of the two of us. I don't eat onions or mushrooms or eggs (unless it's in baked goods). They never make it seem like an inconvenience which is more than I can say for most places I've dined. We also get the wine pairing, almost always and it does not disappoint. The only downside of dining here is that it will become your new standard by which you judge all other restaurants, especially tasting menus. None will compare. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Fantastic experience. Worth every penny. Sat right next to Guy Pearce and was reminded of Memento. To be honest, it might also have been his twin brother. Regardless. Awesome food!

I'm a foodie and a cook. I eat at great restaurants and know some of the best in the world. I will say that Californios is probably one of the best meals I've ever had. You can come to San Francisco and miss the golden gate, but you CANT miss Californios.

Mexican food at this location - excellent. The service was very welcoming and observant. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.

One of the best service I have had, ever. I felt special and welcome. Beautiful and thoughtfully put together dishes that were creative and delicious. Would certainly go back for a special occasion.

This was an amazing experience. ~16 (!!) small dishes (with a Mexican flavor) with a great and interesting wine pairing (one beer). The place is a bit hard to find (no big outside signage, just a non-descript door with the address). Artistic presentation, and different (and interesting) utensils for the courses. Very nice and small interior. Great staff and efficient service.

We sat at the end of the bar and watched a ballet! Service is outstanding and watching them work was a delight. I highly recommend Californios as so many others have already done.

Chef Val Cantu delivers a nearly three-star experience in Californios. A minimalist space where he manages to pack real tasting. True story, there is a moment during the tasting when my wife cries, in an evocative flashback to her childhood, exactly as you see in the movie Ratatouille. Reality surpasses fiction when the delicate flavors at the table transport us back. In general, the 29 small bites are truly a thought-thru experience and, while they are not all 'love' bites, they are certainly an experience. Same can be said of their wine pairing, sourcing a well balanced and tasteful variety. I was expecting another run of the mill Bay Area Michelin (inflated rating) restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised by the humble setting with a surprisingly innovative and powerful menu. My good friend lives in the area and we were just out for a liesurely walk on Valencia. So, when you do that for a few hours,, a spot of shopping here and there. You get a bit of the munchies. So we stopped by for a snackie-snack.

What a gem of a place! Loved the food, to say the least. The entire staff was just super friendly and attentive. The wine pairing was on point. Chefs were playful yet serious. Chef's table was the way to do it for sure.

Wow! What an experience of modern Mexican food. Highly recommend sitting at the bar so you have the view of the chefs at work. Every dish was beautifully done - taste was impeccable, and presentation was very detail oriented. We came to celebrate a birthday and they didn't disappoint. Truly deserves their 2 Michelin Star.

I came to this restaurant back in 2013 when it was still a pop-up as recommended by a friend, and I really enjoyed it. Fast forward 6 years, I came here again to their new venue and I loved it!! Fantastic 23 courses tasting menu and service by the californios team! Well deserved two Michelin stars recognition!

The food in your Restaurant was delectable! I try their pizza, hamburger, and pasta, it was very delicious! The price was also friendly to the pocket. It was also very easy to order and you will not wait for a long time. I would recommend this Restaurant to everyone here in our place! Thanks for the wonderful experience!

My girlfriend and I were excited to try this restaurant after reading all the great reviews and the news they earned 2 Michelin stars.Our experience... was average. There were definitely highlights in the tasting menu, but overall it was just a decent meal. Definitely not worth the $670 price tag. We split a wine pairing, if both of us had the pairing it would have been over $800.At this end of the market there are much better choices, there are better choices at restaurants half the price.Overall, kind of disappointing.

mexican food and the scene here is very good. Went there on a Saturday. The staff was very welcoming and sociable. The bill was good for how much you get. This place has many reviews for a reason.

So before we get foodie geeky, I'll be straight up with you so you don't have to read all the rest. The food tastes a'right. Clearly not going to be the most delicious meal you've had in the year (well... okay, maybe it could be?) It's definitely not gonna be better than the best in Mexico. And this ain't no Commis or Chez TJ either, both I consider some of the best food you can get in the area for your money.

This was an incredible dining experience. Exceptional attention to detail, gorgeous art and quite interesting(but works well) choice of music. I’ve found price point to be way too high when compared to other Michelin star restaurants - hence 5 stars for experience, 3 star for price = 4 star result

This was my favorite meal I've ever enjoyed in San Francisco. The attention to deal in all aspects of this restaurant made me very happy. The thoughtful presentation and creativity of the dishes felt as if I was eating works of fine art at each course. You can taste when food is prepared with love. I enjoyed the stories behind the dishes and the connection to the chef's family heritage. One of kind preparation, presentation, and perspective on Mexican Cuisine. What a beautiful experience.

What a wonderful experience. Service was stellar, food exemplary and ambiance unbeaten. It was a feast for all the senses.

A restaurant with nondescript facade that serves impeccable high class dinner on a set menu – that is Californios, San Francisco in a nut shell. The dining experience of over 3 hours was surprisingly well taken. Each item in the 18-course dinner was served with an explanation of its ingredients and cooking methodology and heightened our appreciation of the food. The selection of wines was excellent and paired very well with the food. The chef also came to the table for closer contact. All the dishes were so palatable as to beggar description. Although its not an inexpensive place, it is highly recommended if you want to experience what fine dining is all about.

It's always a pleasure to find a chef that is able to elevate a traditional cuisine by still maintaining its roots - a sign of a truly great chef. Californios is different and delicious. Each of the dozen dishes served was unique and beautifully served. So much detail & so much taste delicately presented. The staff were just fabulous, so friendly & professional. We absolutely loved our night at Californios!!!

I never regret that I chose your restaurant to celebrate my 30th birthday. A week ago, we enjoy eating, talking and laughing with my family and friends at your restaurant. As a note. I was here the month they opened 4 years ago and couldn't remember the meal at all.. basically forgot the entire experience... they certainly have upped their game since day one. I will remember many of the dishes The funny thing is, I know we are meant to be for soooooo many reasons, but get this.

One of my preferred places for delicious Mexican food. Great location to chill, eat some good food. The place has a great feel to it. They have so many good reviews for a reason.
